Vamos!

    Caveat at Disclaimer

Lahat ng ibinahagi ko dito ay base sa personal kong karanasan at consultations with my agent as of 2025. Tandaan: pwedeng magbago ang requirements, proseso, at interpretation ng batas depende sa ahensiya, konsulado, at updates ng Spanish government—kaya always verify the latest info from official sources or your legal advisor.

Iba-iba tayo ng sitwasyon, kaya what worked for me might not apply sa iyo nang eksakto.

    2. Freelancer with foreign clients – this could also mean self-employed ka pero not from your own company or business. Kumabaga contractor ka.

Kaya I played it smart and chose option 2. I identified as self-employed as consultant to companies in the Philippines that I can do remotely in Spain, na ginagawa ko rin naman talaga aside from my businesses in SEDPI.

    Income requirement:

Ang income requirement ay dapat twice ng minimum wage ng Spain which was €1,323/month during the time na nag-apply ako.

    • Solo applicant: €2,646/month
    • Add partner (1st dependent): +75% = €993
    • Add each child (succeeding dependents): +25% = €331

Kung may partner ka and dalawang anak na balak mong ilagay as your dependents sa application ang total income requirement na dapat meron ka ay nasa €4,300/month.

    Kailangan mo iprove ito with:

    • 3-month bank statements
    • Contracts and invoices from clients
    • Proof of ongoing projects

    Step-by-step: Application Process sa Spain

    1. Get Schengen visa first

A better option is to apply in Spain mismo. In fairness, mabilis nga kasi this was the track I chose.

So ang naging first hurdle ko is to apply for a Schengen visa. I got mine from the Italian embassy – multiple good for one year ang binigay.

    2. Prepare your documents

Medyo mahaba ang listahan ng requirements—kasing haba ng pila sa DFA—but let’s break it down:

    • Contract from a foreign company (check!)
    • University degree or proof of experience
    • NBI clearance (na may hit ako—for some reason di ko alam bakit)
    • Bank statements (3 months minimum)
    • Freelancer registration sa Spain (autónomo status)
    • Resume, passport with apostille, at iba pa

Ang pinaka-nakatagal? Yung diploma ko from Ateneo. Kasi need na iauthenticate ng Commission on Higher Education (CHED) and then apostile ng Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA).

    3. Arrive in Spain

    4. Register as Autónomo after makuha ang Digital Nomad Visa Appproval

Dapat may Spanish bank account, local phone, social security, tax registration at digital signature certificate

    5. Register residency

Empadronamiento ang tawag nila dito sa official proof of residence. So nagrent ako ng place dito para yan ang gagamitin for official communication channels.

    6. TIE Card

Ito yung Tarjeta Identidad de Extranjero. Ito ang Spanish ID mo. Very loosely para siyang Spanish version ng green card sa America kasi this already proves residency that could lead to acquiring Spanish citizenship.

Pag may TIE card na, you can freely travel within Schengen area together with our Philippine passport.

Total damage: €1,200 through an agent.

    • €200: Para masimulan ang process with the agent. They will assess your case and guide you with the best route para mas mataas ang chance for approval.
    • €400: Upon completion of documents from your end

Translation: Investment siya para sa better life. Not bad, ‘di ba? Para kang bumili ng one-way ticket papuntang better quality of life.

For me, malaking bagay yung kapag may approved digital nomad visa na bago ang largest and full payment. It’s giving na may confidence sa service delivery ang agent.

Bonus: Si Edwin, pasok bilang pareja de hecho

Pwede. Ako lang ang may limit na 80% of income must come from outside Spain.

    Citizenship Goals

This visa also puts you on track to Spanish citizenship after just 2 years—basta taga-former colony ka like Pilipinas. Compare mo sa ibang lahi—10 years sila bago makapag-apply.

Sapat ba yan bilang kabayaran sa pagsakop nila sa atin? Uhmmm, malamang hindi, pero better than nothing.

Eleven months per year ang kailangan na nasa Spain ka to qualify. Kailangan mo ring maipasa ang A2 level Spanish language exam plus may cultural exam.

    Get a trusted agent

    Worth it ba?

Kung gusto mo ng bagong environment, magandang healthcare, public services, at path to EU citizenshipyes, worth it. Pero hindi ito magic visa ha? Kailangan may plano, may budget, at may tiyaga.
