On November 13 and 14, 2018, the Department of Education division of Misamis Occidental invited SEDPI Foundation Inc. (SFI) to conduct a financial literacy training in Casa del Sol, Oroquieta City, Misamis Occidental.
Eighty participants attended the training who were mostly school principals, teachers, supervisors, and superintendents. SEDPI’s President, Vince Rapisura and Senior Program Officer, Ms. Francesca Magallon, facilitated the training.
The participants were given lectures and workshops on the following topics: financial life stages, financial planning, budgeting, savings, insurance, debt management, insurance, investment, and personal finance and emotions. Expert advice, practical tips, and tools were provided during the sessions.
SFI hopes that the participants will have a change in their mindset and be empowered to make better financial decisions. “Putting up my emergency fund is my priority now. Thank you for helping me,” a participant shared.
The training received excellent ratings from the participants for the topics (4.90 out of 5); and delivery (4.91,) knowledge (4.94), and overall skills of the resource persons (4.93).
As part of the training package availed by DepEd Misamis Occidental, each participant was provided with an (L)Earning Wealth book- a financial literacy book authored by Vince Rapisura. As a bonus for the participants, he signed each book and gladly obliged to have a photo taken with each participant.
